2011 Horsemanship Summits June 22-26 & Aug 17-21

Whether you’ve never touched a horse or are looking for experience in more advanced riding, this Summit is for you! During your one-on-one daily instructional period, choose what topic you would like to focus on. Some of the many choices are handling of young colts, trailer loading, ground manners, re-schooling older horses, green breaking, basic Farrier skills, etc. You may also bring your own horse to work with, so that this Summit can be a learning experience for both of you! The Horsemanship Summit starts at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday and goes to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sign in is at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. SPACE IS LIMITED! Hope to see you there!

Saddle up for the annual Summer 2011 Round Up! Enjoy a great time of Christ-centered fun and activities that are tailored to instruct Wranglers ages 8 and up. This Round Up offers plenty of "hands on" horse experience while still giving you a chance to enjoy many of the regular activities of camping. Wranglers will enjoy many activities such as relaxing trial rides through the beautiful woods of Western Kentucky all the while they are learning to work together as a team and being challenged spiritually. There are exciting bunkhouse devotions to fuel each Wrangler every day and to start their day with God. This camp offers plenty of "hands on" horse experience while still giving you a chance to enjoy many of the regular camp activities. Learn to work together as a team each day, and be challenged spiritually by exciting Bible studies and special cowboy chapel. This is a great weekend to grow closer to God while enhancing your horsemanship skills. Imagine an early morning horseback ride to a special spot nestled in the woods for a ...hot & hearty breakfast cooked over an open fire and an encouraging campfire devotional! Also enjoy taking an evening ride out on the trails, followed up by campfire food and marshmallows along with a special campfire sing-a-long and evening devotion before turning in for the night.

Mother Daughter Sewing Camp Feb 10-12

Calling all mothers and daughters! If you have a desire to strengthen the bond between you and your daughter, a great way to do so is to work together towards a common goal. Many mothers have repeatedly expressed a sincere interest in learning to sew for their daughters and family, as well as a desire for their daughters to learn how to sew as well. We have planned a mother/daughter sewing weekend so, for busy mothers, there will be a one-time commitment instead of a weekly class. You only have to set aside one weekend out of your busy schedule to learn the basics of sewing! During this short weekend we will walk you through the process, from beginning to end, of picking a pattern, reading what you need to make it, deciding on the right kind of fabric for your project, sizing yourself or family accordingly to the pattern and finally making a nice A-line skirt for you and your attending daughter. You will learn how to sew elastic waist band, zipper and fixed waist band skirts.Enjoy the art of sewing together while making memories and building a relationship with your daughter following Proverbs 3.
The sewing weekend will start Thursday, February 10th at 1:30 p.m. We will be meeting at a sewing store for those that would like to pick out their own fabric and learn the process and do’s and don’ts of fabric buying. For those of you that aren’t able to make it to that part of the weekend, we will be meeting at the Ranch at 4:30 p.m. to start the evening’s classes! Classes will end at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12th!
Cost for the camp includes your pattern, food and instruction time. There will only be a few sewing machines available on first come basis, it is highly recommend that you bring your own machine to class, though not required. You will also be able to learn how to effectively operate your own machine during the class.
Cost for the Camp (for Mother & first daughter):

Additional Daughters: $25 each
Please let us know if you have a son that is interested.
Young ladies may attend without mom! Even if mom does not want to learn to sew we encourage you both to attend together.

2011 Winter Camp

Winter camp will be the first camp of 2011!
We have planned all sorts of fun winter-style activities while learning how, in everything we do, we do it to the glory of God! Imagine a trail ride through freshly fallen snow or sledding down a long hill with the horse to pull you back up the hill to sled down ag...ain. There is no telling what kind of fun and adventures lie in store! Building snow forts and having snow ball fights is much more fun together with like-minded friends and family you love. Evenings will be filled with campfire times and Bible study. We want to teach youth that their daily actions and reactions with God’s principles will create in them a sense of accountability beyond “mommy says so”. The camp is on, snow or no snow! Either way reaching the heart is the goal!
Camp will start Friday January 14th at 3:00 p.m. to Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

P.T.L Leadership Retreat March 3-6

P.T.L. (Prepare To Lead) Leadership Retreat- This camp is for young people 14 and up (or those that will be 14 in the 2011 camp season), who have a desire to serve on staff in the ministry. We will be going over topics on how to become a good leader/role model. Topics covered: Basic problem solving when dealing with staff and children, how to properly do a fun educational skit, how to disciple others, being a... leader not a follower, having a vision for what God wants you to do beyond tomorrow, understand personality types, love languages and Spiritual Gifts, learning how to have an appropriate working relationship with people, how to lead children song time and devotionals, being safe around horses, basic riding and more. This is not going to be all learning and no fun, we are also planning a special theme dinner Saturday night! This years theme is the "Old West" so if you can, bring the best of your western threads and join us for a real "Old West" style steak dinner and lots of fun! Throughout the weekend we are intertwining recreation for you to enjoy during this RETREAT with other like minded Christian young people! This should be an edifying and relaxing time of fellowship and refreshment.

During the weekend we will focus on the book of Ephesian. The Jr. leaders are ages 14-19 and Sr. leaders will be ages 20 and up. We have a nice mixture of young and older leadership attending this year, so no matter what you age you will be you sure to fit right in with the team. We believe that a team is not complete useless you have a good mixture of both younger and older leadership!
There is no cost for the leadership camp this year and it is open to any with a interest and desire to develop leadership skills in their life. Please feel free to share this with someone you know that would be interested! You do not have to attend the PTL Retreat in order to serve with us this coming year, nor do you have to serve at one of the camps if you attend the retreat!

Camp begins Thursday March 3rd at 5:00 p.m. and ends Sunday March 6th at 3:00 p.m. we understand due to school and work some will not be able to make it in on Thursday, so we have concentrated most of our major training and highlights to Fri late afternoon through Saturday evening!

First Annual 2010 Family Camp

Many of you have heard about the fun your children have had during HGMM camps, some of you have even been able to watch them experience it during our ending Summer Round Up Rodeo, and many of you haven't had opportunity to experience either! After receiving many requests, and much prayer, the Lord has led us to open up the fun to the entire family! So we invite you and your family to join us for our first annual Family Camp, November 4th-7th!

The purpose for this camp is to pull families together for a weekend packed with learning, fun, and relaxation! At the very beginning of camp your family will register for many different activities such as hiking, fishing, trail rides, target range, sewing your own stick horses, roping and more will be among the options! In the evening we will be blessed with messages from God-gifted speakers who will share on a variety of topics that will bless you and your family!

So clear November 4th-7th on the family calender and plan to be at the Ranch for Family Camp!

Saturday, July 17th the dust settled on the last day of our 2010 Summer Round Up camp! It was a wonderful week full of fun and learning, though VERY hot! We were sad to say goodbye to all the Wranglers, as well as all the amazing and dedicated staff that week! Camp wasn't over yet, until after we had our annual Rodeo that concluded a wonderful week! It was a great time for all the Wranglers to show their parents some of what they had learned throughout the week! Thank you to all who helped make this yet again another wonderful week of camp! Happy trails to you all until we meet again!

Summer Round Up - Day 4

Ride 'em Cowgirls and Cowboys! The competition was intense and close as each Wranglers skills were tested on the Pole Bending and Barrel competitions. Another favorite activity was ice-cream making! The Wranglers learned about the process of making homemade ice-cream and were the milk comes from to make such a cool yummy treat. The Wranglers were astatic to see the 160 ft. slip n slide, loaded with soap, and lots of water creating a high speed thrilling ride!

The trilling day came to a close with a skit teaching about Loyalty to making right choices no matter what our friends might say to us. One last treat for the Wranglers before hitting the hay for the night... a hay ride! We had a great time caroling, telling fun stories, and laughing together!

Summer Round Up - Day 2

Rise and shine it’s day two of Summer Round Up! The Wranglers were excited to jump into the activities for the day, shooting pellet guns, the obstacle course which required team work to get through the course, drill team, and a night ride to the camp fire for a marshmallow roast and hear a story and illustration about choices we make and the mess we get in when we make wrong ones. Jesus came and died on the cross to free us and pay our punishment for all our wrong choices which are sin.

It’s been a wonderful day watching all the Wranglers smile as they learn and have fun! We would like you to have the opportunity to rejoice with us as we share some of the smiles from the day.

Summer Round Up 2010 - Day 1

We are so excited to have 37 of the finest Wranglers at Summer Round Up! Today was the Beginning of an exciting action packed week!

Today your Wrangler learned the basics of ridding a horse and immediately put their new skills into practice with some exciting relay games which included, apply bobbing, a dress up relay, and the magazine relay. To cool off from a hot day the girls and boys enjoyed a refreshing swim in the pool! This evening we had a skit about attentiveness and obedience, we talked about the dangers of not being attentive and the blessings for being attentive to the Lord and obeying.

Today kicks off the first day of Horsemanship Summit 2010. For the next four days 16 students will be immersing themselves into the lives of their horses. Learning what makes them tick, how to fine tune their training, and proper care for a healthy and vibrant horse. Each student will have chosen from the following topics and will be receiving One-on-One instruction time with instructors each day.

Spring Round Up End of the trail review!

Spring Round camp was off with a “crack” on April 9! We had 28 enthusiastic wranglers’ arrive in style for the Round up! God was so good and blessed each one of us involved! We also had staff join us from Eastern and Central Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas! Big thanks to all our stuff for all they did to make this an awesome weekend! Fall Camp 2009

We are grateful for each of the Wrangler's God brought to Fall Camp 2009! Camp was wrapped up with worship and a lesson and challenge from the life of Jim Elliott. Who willingly gave his life so the Auca Indians would hear and one day come to know Christ. One more time on horse back... the Wrangler's experienced the life of a circuit ridder... with a few fun stops swapping ridders, a water ballon toss, a marshmallow shooting station, and a roping stop. Fall Camp 2009, Saturday

The day began with breakfast on the trail followed by a devotion on boldness. The day has flown by with several exciting activities such as the build your own trail ride, sheet volley ball, bobbing apples, caramel apple making, steal the bacon on horse back, a water ballon fight in the woods, a hay ride, and a cookout! We are looking forward to the many more fun and exciting activities the evening holds. Your Wrangler is memorizing Proverbs 16:19 "Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud."

Fall Camp 2009 Begins

Fall Camp is in full swing! We are grateful for each of the Wranglers God brought to Camp and for the opportunities for them to grow in their walk with Christ as they learn more about Him and His character. Last night your Wrangler learned a lesson about the 10 commandments, using eggs representing each commandment and someone who said they had "never sinned." Trying of hold all 10 eggs with out breaking one was difficult... finally, upon the realization that we have all broken God's laws as Romans 3:23 states, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." the eggs were broken leaving a gooey mess illustrating the mess that sin has in our lives but Christ when He died on the cross our sinful mess was covered in His righteousness. The night was wrapped up with a trail ride and devotions by lantern light at the pond.

Horse Presentation

We had the privilege of taking Higher Ground Ministries on the road to Henderson KY to do a Horse Presentation for a Father Son group at the First Assemblies of God church. We were blessed to have about 37 Fathers and Sons who eagerly anticipated their turn for a trail ride. We began the evening having a boy try to follow Richard's instructions for tying a knot.... it was not until Richard came along side the boy and helped him that the boy was able to tie the knot properly. In our lives we struggle trying to live life on our own but when Christ comes along side us we are able to conquer. "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Romans 8:37 Thunder the Arabian Quarter Horse Cross had to make a choice... when her friends (3 other horses) came over to "play" was she going to loose her focus and go with the crowed or was she going to stand still and keep focused as her rider had instructed. Same is true in our lives when Christ asks you to do something but the world says come play, this way is more fun.... will you stand strong and keep your focus on Christ?

Experience the Nature of God at the Fall Higher Ground Round-Up! Each day we will explore different aspects of God and His Word. Through bunkhouse devotionals, exciting chapel sessions, and plenty of other teachable moments throughout the day. You’ll also discover how much fun your Christian walk can really be! Every day will be filled with horsemanship and outdoor training sessions, games, skits, bonfires, hay rides, meals on the trail and many more activities and challenges that will make your experience one that will last a lifetime!

Summer Camp 2009 Day 5

Camp is wrapping up but the excitement is still alive! We took a hayride to the butcher to learn about the process of getting meat on your table. Your Wrangler learned how to build a shelter in the woods, work as a team on an obstacle course, barrel racing, and pole bending. We rapped up the night with a surprise nav-med which took the Wranglers into the woods to search for their "hurt" event leaders and put their First - aid skill into practice.

Summer Camp 2009 Day 4

The day was packed with fun activities.... musical mounts, three on a bale, fishing at the pond, team relay on horses, and a firemen's relay. The night was wrapped up with a surprise evening ride for the guys and swimming for the girls.

Summer Camp 2009 Day 3

Another HOT day at the Ranch wasn't enough to stop the Wranglers from having a great time learning about First - Aid, Roping, a treasure hunt on horse back, knot tying and stretcher building, cattle sorting, a game of capture the flag with water balloons, and a 100 ft slip and slide!

Summer Camp 2009 Day 2

The day began early with breakfast on the trail and a devotion on determination and running the race of life. "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain." I Corinthians 9:24 The day was filled with lots of hands on teaching. Your Wrangler learned the process of making butter, first aid for horses, and a drill team competition! Through an exciting skit your Wrangler saw how Joseph demonstrated determination to do what was right even when faced with challenging circumstances. To wrap up an exciting day the girls went on a surprise night ride!

Summer Camp 2009 is officially under way with sixteen enthusiastic Wranglers! Monday we learned about the true meaning of love. "Giving to others basic needs without having as my motive personal reward." They learned this through memory verses, an intriguing candle making craft, rifle range, a trail ride, and fun and exciting skits. The Wranglers are learning what it means to live by John 13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye love one to another."

Try out our newest Horsemanship Summit and expand your horse experience! Enjoy three days full of horse activities of all kinds. This Summit is specifically designed for serious riders desiring to improve their riding, handling, and training abilities! Whether you’re a beginner or looking for experience in more advanced riding, this Summit is for you! From beginning to end, you will experience the fun of working with horses non stop and be challenged spiritually as you develop your horse skills with one-on-one time working with an experienced instructor. During your one-on-one daily instructional period, you may choose what topic you would like to focus on, such as starting the handling of a young colt, trailer loading, teaching ground manners, re-schooling older horses, and/or green breaking and basic farrier skills. Age, riding level, experience, and interest will all be taken into account while working (please specify chosen topic on application). This week promises to be not only fun, but also educational.
You may also choose to bring your own horse to work with so that this Summit can be a learning experience for both of you! Come and enjoy this exciting Summit and go home feeling refreshed in the Lord and more confident in your horsemanship and training skills.

Camp is limited to 10 students to accommodate the one-on-one training with our instructors.

All new annual Summer 2009 Round Up! Enjoy a great time of Christ-centered fun and activities that are tailored to Wranglers ages 8 and up. This Round Up offers plenty of "hands on" horse experience while still giving you a chance to enjoy many of the regular activities of camp. Enjoy relaxing trial rides through the beautiful woods of Western Kentucky and learn to work together as a team, and being challenged spiritually by exciting daily bunkhouse devotions and other session through out the day. This is a great week to grow closer to God while enhancing your horsemanship and other backwoods survival skills. Like fire starting techniques, basic first aid, shelter construction, backwoods cooking, search a rescue and compass navigation and much more! Imagine an early morning horseback ride to a special spot nestled in the woods for a hot & hearty breakfast cooked over an open fire! Also enjoy taking an evening ride out on the trails, followed up by campfire food and marshmallows over an open fire along with a special campfire sing-a-long and evening devotion before turning in for the night. See God’s fingerprints all through His creation as you embark on this exciting Round-up designed to motivate you to Ride Strong in your daily walk with God!

2009 Spring Round-Up Camp End of The Trail Review!

Ropes, dust, saddles, cowboy hats, boots, smoky camp fires and RAIN! Wow, what a weekend! Well, a little rain may have changed our plans some, but it didn’t stop 27 young Wranglers and 11 Ranch Hands from having lots of fun at the 2009 Spring Round Up Camp! We enjoyed Trail Rides, First Aid and Out Door classes, Pellet Gun Shooting Range and lots of other fun games and skill builders. Then we topped it all off with and hay ride, Smores and summed it all up with a few horse back games and relays!
This is just the start of the fun for this year. Don’t miss out on your chance join in on all the fun this summer at the first Annual 2009 Summer Round Up, June 22-27th! (More details to follow soon!)

Come and join us at the YR Ranch for three days packed with ranch life and fun activities!!!!

Experiance the nature of God at the YR Ranch Spring Higher Ground Round-Up! Each day we will explore different aspects of God and His Word through quality time with your trailmates and ranch hand counselor in bunkhouse devotions, exciting cowboy chapel sessions, and plenty of teachable moments throughout the day. You'll discover how much fun your Christian walk can be! Every day will be filled with training sessions, games, skits, activites, and challanges that will make your experiance at the Ranch one that we pray will last for a lifetime.

These camps offer plenty of "hands on" horse experiance while still giving you a chance to enjoy many of the regular actvities of camp. You will be challenfed spiriuallt by exciting Bible studies and special cowboy chapels. Expect to grow closer to God while enhancing your horsemanship skills. Imagine an early morning horseback ride to a specail spot nestled in the woods for a hot and hearty breakfast cooked over an open fire with an encouraging campfire devotional. Also you will enjoy taking an ecvening ride out on the trails, followed up by food and marchmellows over a fire. Special sing-a-longs every evening and devotions before turning in for the night are always a highlight.

Learn other outdoor skills and see God's fingerprints on all creation as you embark on this round up of your life!
